11 Aug. 1788 -- SAMUEL STRUDWICK to THOMAS THOMPSON, both of Orange County, 
North Carolina for 500 pounds, 640 acres, all that land in the Hawfield late 
in the possession of HUGH ROGERS. Beginning at a Spanish oak at the moouth of 
a branch of the Haw River, N40E 74 chs. to a hickory, N17W 30 chs. to an ash 
on Meadows Creek at the mouth of a branch, up the creek 3.5 chains to an ash 
on the creek, S53E 42 chains to a maple at the head of a branch, N76E 18 chs. 
to a white oak at the head of another branch, down branch about 77 chs. to a 
stake on branch, S70W 85 chs. to mouth of Flush Branch, up river to the
