This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Jacqueline Tilley Wilkerson jwilkerson@visionet.org ==================================================================== May 29, 1855 Book 34, Page 564, 565 Know all men by these presents the we William Walker and Mary Walker his wife of the County of Clinton and State of Missouri do hereby Constitute and appoint James Walker of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina our true and lawful agent and Attorney infact to Sell and Convey any and all of our right title claim and interest in and to any real estate in which we may be interested by virtue of our heirship to Elizabeth Walker deceased, daughter of William Walker deceased late of Orange County North Carolina and as good and valid title make thereto as we could do were we personally present and acting for ourselves, and our said Attorney is further authorized and empowered to ask demand, sue for recover and acquittances give for any and all monies debts credits slaves and other property that may be coming to us from the said estate of Elizabeth Walker deceased of the said County of Orange and State of North Carolina and all and every act of our said Attorney done in and about the Selling and Conveying our interest in the said real estate and the collecting of the monies, debts Credits, Slaves and other property due to and Coming to us from the said estate of Elizabeth Walker shall be forever binding upon us as if done in our own proper persons. In testimony whereof we the Said William Walker (Brother of the said Elizabeth Walker deceased) and Mary Walker his wife have hereunto set our hands and seals the 29th day of May A.D. One thousand eight hundred and fifty five. William Walker (seal) Mary Walker (seal) State of Missouri ) County of Clinton ) Set I Edward M Samuel Commissioner of Deeds for the State of North Carolina, duly appointed and Commissioned by the Governor thereof for the State of Missouri to take the acknowledgement of deeds and other Writings to be used and recorded in the Said State of North Carolina, do Certify that this instrument of writing from William Walker and Mary Walker his wife was this day produced to me in the Town of Plattsburg Clinton County Missouri by the said William Walker and Mary Walker his wife and then and there, before me severally acknowledged by them to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned; She the Said Mary Walker in an examination made by me seperately and apart from her husband declared that She executed the said instrument of writing freely, and voluntarily and relinquished her dower in the real estate therein mentioned, without the compulsion or undue influence of her said husband (and Consents that this instrument Shall be put upon record in the State of North Carolina where the premises lay.
