Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings sterling money to the said William Wiley in hand paid by the said WILLIAM PACELY the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath bargained, and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said WILLIAM PACELY all that messuage, tenement, plantation, tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the said county and province on Birch Creek, the waters of Little Alamance and on both sides of Quaker Road, beginning at a black oak, then running north 86 chains to a white oak sapling, then west 35 chains cross Birch Creek to a white oak sapling, then south cross a branch 25 chains to a stake, then west cross a fork, a fork [clerk’s error] of said creek 55 chains to a white oak sapling, then south 61 chains to a Spanish oak, then east cross a branch and Birch Creek, 90 chains to the first station containing in the whole, 636 acres, to have and to hold the said messuage, tenement, plantation, tract or parcel of land and all and singular other the premises herein mentioned and intended to be hereby bargained and sold with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said WILLIAM PACELY, his heirs, executors and administrators and assigns from the day before the date hereof, for and during the term of one whole year from thence next ensuing, and fully to be completed and ended yielding and paying the before, the yearly rent of one peppercorn at the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel, only if the same be then demanded, to the intent that by virtue of these presents and of the statute for transferring uses into possession, the said WILLIAM PACELY may be in actual possession of the premises and be enabled to accept of a grant and release of the reversion and inheritance thereof, to him and his heirs and assigns.
