Granville, three hundred sixty nine pounds nineteen shillings six pence, 314 
acres, on N side of Eno & Little R., begin at an elm on a gut near the bank of 
Eno, N20W 200 p. to a cor. 3 red oaks, by dividing line between Hugh Wood & 
Hugh Cain S41or43W 250 p. to 2 hicories & a beach on bank of Little R., down 
river to its mouth, down Eno to first station (body of deed refers to grantee 
as Robt. Lewis); signed Hugh WOOD, Mary (X) WOOD; witness: Thomas Person, John 
Hargrove, Hugh Cain; dower relinquished before Tyree HARRIS; acknowledged July 
Term 1770.

8 June 1770, Edmund Fanning of Orange to Hugh WOOD of same, three hundred and 
seventy five pounds, 640 acres, on both sides of Little R. called Parsons Cr., 
begin at a white oak, N 80 ch. To the center of 2 hicories & 2 pines, W 80 ch. 
To a red oak, @ 80 ch. To a white oak, E 80 ch. To first station; signed: 
Edmd. Fanning; witness: W. Mebane, Jacob Raiford; acknowledged July term 1770.

23 July 1771, Francis Nash of Orange to John WOOD of same, sixty pounds, 1 
acre Lot No. 10 in Hillsborough (formerly Childsburg) on S side of Spring 
Lane, Commissioners to Nash 3 May 1766 registered in Book A Page 34 ½; signed 
F. Nash; witness: none listed; acknowledged July Term 1771.

21 January 1796, Richard Clemments to Joseph WOOD, both of Orange, fifty 
pounds, 44 acres, part of tract where Richard Clemment now lives, begin at a 
pine on Samuel Chizenhall’s line, N50E 139 p. to a pine on Thomas WOOD’s line, 
S10W 71 p. to a spanish oak saplin on Worham Glen’s line, S31W 74 p. to a red 
oak saplin on line, near a N course 74 p. to beginning pine; signed: Richd. 
Clements; witness: James WOOD, Richd. Leigh; acknowledged May Term 1796.

9 May 1797, John WOODS Senior of Orange to David WOODS of same, one hundred 
pounds, 165 acres, on waters of Little R., part of two tracts known as Tracts 
#22 and #28, begin at a heap of stones in Thomas WOODS line, S55E 42 ch. To a 
black oak, S15W 52 ch. To a black jack, W 112 ch. To a black jack John 
Nichols’ cor., N10W 55 ½ ch. To a black oak Nichols’ other cor., W 11 ½ ch. To
