Woods & E.C. Woods his wife of Orange County and state of North Carolina of the first part to Mamie Redding of Orange County and State of North Carolina of the second part Witnesseth that said Party of the first part in con- sideration of the sum of one hundred and eighty seven dollars to them paid by Party of the second part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged has bargained and sold and by these presents does bargain sell and convey to said Mamie Redding and her heirs and assign a certain tract or parcel of land in Orange County State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of Jno. A. Woods, Wm N. Nichols W.L. Smith and others bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a stake in the old line of the John Redding tract Thence East 63 chs. & 25 links to a stake and pointers in W.L. Smith’s line Thence South 15 chs & 23 links at a stake Smith’s corner Thence South 28° West 6 chs & 70 links to a stump Smith’s corner Thence West 32 chs & 30 links to a stake Smith’s corner Thence South 50 links to a post oak Smith’s corner Thence west 19 chs. & 75 links to a stake Thence North 1 ch & 50 links to a stake Thence West 7 chs & 75 links to a gum thence North 19 chs & 25 links to 1st station containing 126 1/2 acres more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said Mamie Redding to her heirs and assigns to their only use and behoof forever. And the said party of the first part covenant with said Mamie Redding her heirs and assigns that they are seized of said premises in fee and have right to convey the same in fee simple; that the same are free and clear from all incumbrances and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whomsoever In testimony whereof the said W.D. Kenion a Justice of the Peace do hereby certify that W.D. Woods and E.C. Woods his wife personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed deed of conveyance and the said E.C. Woods being by me privately examined separate and apart from her said husband touching her voluntary execution of the same doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
