Application for Transfer dated May 30, 1837 at Henry Co. TN Born Feb. abt 1760 Northampton Co., PA, moved at about age 13 to Orange County, N.C., enlisted 1779 and served 9 months as private under Capt. Young, Col. Lytle, N.C. Regt. Marched to Savannah, GA where involved in skirmishes. Enlisted Dec. 28, 1779, under Capts. Rogers, O'Neal and Trousdale in NC troops, employed raising breastworks at Charleston S.C., discharged there March 28, 1780; enlisted 1781 and drove wagon loaded with baggage of Cols. Wooten & Farmer from N.C. to S.C.; served as guard over prisoners taken at Eutaw; transferred by Col. Malmedy to Qtrmstr. Dept. under Depty. Qtrmstr. I. Galbraith; discharged Sep. 18, 1781.
