His parents then emigrated to the United States and settled near Hillsboro, Orange. Williams enlisted in 1780 and served as Drum Major for 18 months with Capt. McGibbony's Company. James McKay was Lieutenant. The company was under the command of Gen. Smallwood. After the war Williams returned to Orange County. He petitioned for and was awarded a pension in 1832. He was 74 year old. There is no family information in the petition application.
