George Doherty, died 1792. He was born in Ireland and died at Hillsboro, NC. 
He served as Captain in the 5th and 6th Regiments and Major in the North 
Carolina Line and in Gen. Jethro Sumner's Brigade.

He married Mary Freeman, nee Burke in 1785. They had a daughter Frances Wilson 
Doherty, born 1786; died 1850. She married William Bond in 1804. He was born 
1770; died 1820. Their descendants qualified for D.A.R. Membership under 
lineage Certificate 137388.
