Wed. Oct. 11, 1826 North Carolina Journal October 11, 1826
  -- GOV. BURTON has fixed upon Friday, the 3rd of November, as the day upon 
which an election shall be held in this district of Representative in Congress 
and to fill the vacancy created by MR. MANGUM to a seat on the Superior Court 
Bench. JAMES MEBANE ESQ. of Orange and GENERAL BARRINGER of Wake, are the only 
candidates.
