Johnson Atwater of Chapel Hill died May 9 unexpectedly. He was 51.
Survivors include -
Widow: Mrs. Pauline Bynum Atwater
Four sons: Roy Lee and Roosevelt of the home, Ervin of Baltimore, Md. and John 
Atwater Jr of Chapel Hill
One stepson: Chester Bynum of Chapel Hill
Four daughters: Mrs. Lucille Moore and Mrs. Shirley Clark of Chapel Hill, Mrs. 
Johnnie Mae Dnipes of Durham and Mrs. Julia Mae Harris of Baltimore, Md
Two sisters, two brothers and 26 grandchildren
Funeral held Saturday at Hamlet's Chapel Church by Rev. W.W. Gary, with burial 
in the church cemetery.
