Few men in this State were more widely or more favorable known than DAVIE BARHAM. He was in his 60th year, and had been in the service of the University ever since 1826, with but one short intermission. During these 34 years he showed himself to be possessed of an excellent temper, unsuspected honesty, unswerving fidelity, sound judgment, eminent discretion, and most reliable truthfulness. His funeral was preached in the Presbyterian Church, by the REV. DR. PHILLIPS and he was buried in the graveyard at the University, lamented by all who knew him. Those who, while students at the University, were waited on by DAVIE, should see to it that his grave is marked by an appropriate monument. C.P.
