The News, Hillsboro, N.C., Thursday, June 29, 1944
Mrs. Daisy  Blackwood, 64 of Chapel Hill died Wednesday, June 21 at the home 
of her son, Bruce Blackwood, at 1:30 pm.
Her late husband was W. D. Blackwood.
Her death was attributed to a heart attack after 19 months of declining health.
Survivors:
Two Daughters: Mrs. T. L. Sears of Durham and Mrs. V. W. Dill of Missouri
Two Sons: Bruce Blackwood of Chapel and Pvt. Warren Blackwood of the armed 
forces in the Pacific.
Four Step-Children: Mrs. J. B. Horton and Paul Blackwood of Chapel Hill,
Mrs. H. H. Allen and Mrs. W. W. Clayton of Durham
15 grandchildren
Four Sisters: Mrs. Bettie Upchurch of Cumberland County, Mrs. J.J. Riggsbee of 
Carrboro, Alice Merritt of Chapel Hill and Mrs. John Blackwood of Raleigh
One Brother: Carl Merritt of Chapel Hill
Funeral services and burial at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at 3:00 pm.
Rev. F. D. Hemphill of Bragtown officiated.
