The News of Orange County, November 23, 1944
Sgt. Wilred Odell Gates, killed in action, October 23, in Germany.
Graduate of Caldwell Elementary School and Hillsboro High School.
Employee of Collins-Aikman Upholstery Manufacturing Company of Ca-Vel before 
entering the service.
He had served almost four years and wounded once since the invasion of France.
Survivors:
Wife: Mrs. Louise Clayton Gates of Timberlake
Parents: Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Gates of Rougemont
