She had her 88th birthday last July 24th. She was one of the oldest and most beloved citizens of Chapel Hill. The body to be cremated and graveside services at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements incomplete. Survivors: Mrs. Mary Graves Sons: [Editor] Louis Graves, chief engineer's office in Washington One Niece: Miss Bessie L. Whitaker of Denver, Colorado Two grandchildren: Pembroke Rees, training at Athens, Ga in the Navy Pre- flight school and Lt. Ernest Graves, Jr. with the army engineer corps in Europe. She was the granddaughter of William Hooper, grandson of the signer of the Declaration of Independence. Mr. Hooper's mother's second marrige was to Joseph Caldwell, the first president of UNC, around 1800.
