The News of Orange County, December 28, 1972
John William Latta, Sr. of Mebane, died at home, Sunday, December 17th.
He was 82.
A native of Orange County.
A former mayor of Mebane, town commissioner for 17 years and a retired 
wholesale grocer
A member of Mebane Presbyterian Church, a Mason and member of the American 
Legion
Survivors:
Widow: Mrs. Rachel H. Latta of the home
One daughter: Lt. Col. Patricia Latta of Medical Corps, Alexandria, Va
One son: John W. Latta, Jr. of Arlington, Va
Two sisters: Mrs. L.A. Walker of Summerfield and Mrs. Odell Highfill of Raleigh
Eight brothers: Sam T. Latta, Harold F. Latta, Edmund Latta, Allen Latta and 
Milton Latta, all of Hillsborough, Dave Latta of Winston-Salem, Vance Latta 
and Baxter Latta of Burlington
One grandchild
Funeral held Tuesday, December 19th at Mebane Presbyterian Church by Rev. 
Allen C. McSween
Burial in Oakwood Cemetery
