He was 62. He was a Chapel Hill town attorney, former UNC trustee and New Hanover County legislator. He died almost immediately from what was believed to be a heart attack, while walking to his car after having left his downtown office. Funeral held Saturday at Episcopal Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill, by Rev. Thomas H. Thrasher. Burial in Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington. He moved to Chapel Hill in 1950 from Wilmington, where he practiced law for some years. He was town attorney for Chapel Hill since 1952. Orange County Recorder's Court solicitor for several years. Also had Practiced law privately in Chapel Hill. Survivors - Widow: the former Lucy Wheeler Buck of Pelham Manor, NY Two sons: Dr. Gordon Buck LeGrand, resident physician in the Dept. of Pathology of UNC at Chapel Hill and John Lillington LeGrand of Huntsville, Ala. A brother: Rufus Little LeGrand of Wilmington A native of Wilmington, he graduated from UNC Law School in 1927. Thereafter he worked in New York and Goldsboro before returning to Wilmington. A representative in the General Assembly in sessions 1939, 1941 and 1945 from New Hanover County. A member of the board of trustees of UNC. Past president of Kiwanis in Wilmington.
