He died after suffering a heart attack, never regaining consciousness. He was 70. A retired professor of English at the University of North Carolina. A former member of the National Wildlife Federation and served as director from 1951 - 1952. Survivors include - Widow: Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Lyon McClamroch Daughter: Mrs. Walter McFall of Chapel Hill Son: Roland P. (Sandy) McClamroch Jr. mayor of Chapel Hill Sister: Mrs. Catherine Bennett of Greensboro Five grandchildren A member of the N.C. House of Representatives for two terms, 1939-1941 He was a native of Greensboro. He had lived in Chapel Hill since he came there as a student. While at the university, he took his bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. degrees. He served in World War I in the Army in France attaining the rank of first lieutenant. He held office in the Chapel Hill chapter of the American Red Cross. Funeral held Tuesday at Presbyterian Church by Rev. Vance Barron and Reb. Thomas Thrasher.
