Monk, 75, died in Durham, following a heart attack. Retired tobacco warehouseman. Funeral services at Howerton-Bryan, conducted by Rev. Owen F. Herring, pastor of Watts Street Baptist Chand and Rev. James D. Huggin, Pastor of Trinity Methodist Church. Burial in old section of Maplewood Cemetery Born and raised in Orange County Son of William J. and Emma Cox Monk. Educated in Orange County and moved to Durham when young to go into the tobacco warehouse business. Was a member of Watts Street Baptist Church. Survivors: One son: W. Plato Monk of Wilson One daughter: Mrs. Lena Mae Head of Raleigh One grandson: Cpl.
