The News of Orange County, March 8, 1945
Memorial services held at Efland Methodist Church for Sgt. Jesse William 
Nichols on March 8.
Services were conducted by Rev. E.H. Measamer of Efland and Rev. T. B. Hough 
of Mebane.
January 1943, he entered the service and trained at Fort Jackson, SC.
April 1944 he was sent overseas. He was attached to the tank calvary of the 
Third Army.
October 11, 1944 he was killed in action in France.
Prior to entering the service, he was a postal clerk at Camp Pickett, VA.
Survivors:
Wife: Mrs. Nellie Long Nichols of Mebane
Mother: Mrs. J. B. Nichols of Efland
Three brothers: Robert Nichols of Efland; Victor Nichols of Mebane; Euliss 
Nichols of Burlington
One sister: Mrs. Aubrey Grham of Efland
