Irvin Howard Porterfield of Durham, died last Thursday in Watts Hospital.
He was 62.
Born in Orange County to the late J.S. and Emma Watson Porterfield.
He was educated in the Orange County schools.
He moved to Durham as a young man and lived there until his death.
Associated with W.C Lyon Hardware Co. for many years.
A member of Immanuel Baptist Church and superintendent of the Adult Sunday 
School Department, a former deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include -
Widow: the former Lillie Mae Whitaker
One son: Carol Howard Porterfield of Charlotte
One sister: Mrs. Coy Riley of Durham
Six brothers: J.W. Porterfield, H.C. Porterfield and D.W. Porterfield of 
Durham, N.C. Porterfield of Morrisville, J.D. Porterfield of Haw River and 
J.O. Porterfield of Hurdle Mills.
Funeral held Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church, with burial in Maplewood 
Cemetery.
Rev. Lewis Wall, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church and Rev. John Joyner, 
former pastor of Angier, conducted the service.
