The News of Orange County, January 4, 1972
Fletcher Poteat of Durham, died Sunday, December 31, after a short illness.
Funeral arrangements incomplete.
Survivors:
Widow: Mrs. Pensia Poteat
Five sons: John Poteat of Hillsborough; Rufus Poteat; Joseph Poteat and Junius 
Garrland, all of Washington, DC and O'Kelly Poteat of Durham
Four daughters: Mrs. Alice Bailey of Washington, DC and Mrs. Mary Breeze; 
Nancy Poteat and Geraldine Snipes, all of Durham
Two great-grandchildren
