The News of Orange County, Hillsboro, N.C., Thursday, October 19, 1944
Jurist and author, Judge Robert Watson Winston, died in the Carolina Inn in 
Chapel Hill.
He died last Friday night in his room. He was 84.
He was found Saturday around 9:00 AM.
He was the father of Mrs. Frank B. Webb and Mrs. George Watts Carr of Chapel 
Hill.
He was a former resident of Durham.
He was a superior court judge. He was studying at Chapel Hill when he died.
He was the author of many books and magazine articles, mainly dealing with the 
south.
He had received many honorary degrees including Duke and Wake Forest 
Universities.
He had been in declining health for the past several years.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
