This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Matthew Van Hook vanhook@swconnect.net ==================================================================== Will of Robert Bumpas In the name of God Amen, the third day of our Lord one thousand seaven hundred and seaventy seaven I Robert Bumpas of Orange County and Province of North Carolina being weak and sick of boddey but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to allmighty God for his mercies and therefore calling to mind the mortallity of my boddey and knowing that it is appointed to all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and teatament Principly and first of all I Give and Recommend my Precious and immortal soul into the hands of God who gave it to me and as for my bodey I Recommend it to the earth, to be buried in a Deasent and Christian like maner and at the Descression of my Executors, whome here after I shall appoint. Nothing Doubting but at the Gereral Resurrection I shall tceive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching my worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God in this Life to Bless me with after my Just Debts and Funeral Expenses are paid I Give Devise and Dispose of in manner and form as followeth. Item I lend unto my well beloved wife Sarah Bumpas the Land and Plantation and all my Negroes together with my Stock and house hold furniture with my Crop and working tools Diring her Natural Life or Widowhood but at the death or marriage of my wife Sarah Bumpas that all my lands and Negroes with all the Rest of my Estate may be sold for Readye money Equally divided between my well beloved Son and Daughters that is to say my son John Bumpas & my Daughter LUCY VANHOOK and my Daughters Elisabeth Davey & Agnes Prattand Winifred Kizort & Martha Wilson to them and their heirs forever. Item I make and ordain my trew and trusty friends soul executors of this my last will and testament in Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the Day and year first above written.
