Now all men by these presents that I John Elliff
of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina
for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred
and fifty pounds to me in hand paid, have Bargained
and sold & by these presents Do grant Bargain and
sell unto Thomas Cole of the County and State
aforesaid on Certain Negore[sic] Fellow to wit naimed
Jim which Negroe fellow I do warrant and fore ever
Defend form me myself my heirs Executrs. Admrs. and
Assigns for Ever and from the Just Claim of any
other person or persons whatsoever Laying Claim
Righte or Title to the said Negro fellow Jim as
Witness my hand and Seal this Twentyeth Day
of November.  In the year of our Lord 1794
