Crabtree, of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, and being fully aware of the certainty of death and the uncertainty of life do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows- that is to say- Item 1st I desire my executor hereinafter named to prepare for my body a decent burial, to be paid out of such moneys as may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate. Item 2nd I desire him to pay all of my just debts with moneys, next, which may come into his hands. Item 3rd I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Selina Frances, the sum of four hundred dollars in money, to be derived from the sale of certain real estate hereafter mentioned. I also give and bequeath to my wife Selina Frances, 1 pair bed steads & one large chest. Item 4th, I desire my executor, after due notice to dispose of my real estate at public auction to the highest bidder, making the payments in two installments and due at six and twelve months and I further desire my executor, as soon as practicable after my decease to dispose of all of my personal property (not otherwise devised) to the highest bidder for cash and apply the proceeds arising from the sale of said real estate and said personal property-first as directed in items 1st 2nd and 3rd in order as they come in the foregoing. Item 5th I desire further, if there be any surplus after the foregoing is complied with, that my executor shall divide the same, equally among my children: towit, Jackson Crabtree, Mahala Bacon, Fannie Walker, Arch Crabtree and Bettie Roberts. Item 6th I do hereby appoint, empower and do by these presents declare my son Jackson Crabtree to be my executor to this my last will and testament.
