Testator: Phebe Grimes

In the name of God Amen
I Phebe Grimes of the County of Orange
Being of sound and Perfect mind and memory
(Blessed be God) do this fourteenth day of July
In the year of Our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and one make and Publish this my
Last will and Testament in manner following
That is to say - First I Give and bequeath
to my Eldest daughter Elizabeth Grimes
her mare and saddle her bed and furniture 2nd
I give and bequeath to my daughter Phebe
Grimes A Richmond Colt and saddle her bed
and furniture, 3rd I give and Bequeath to my
daughter Lydia Grimes a Federalist Colt and saddle
Her bed and furniture, 4th I Give and bequeath
To my daughter Ann Grimes A Colt equal
To Phebe's and saddle her bed and furniture 5th
I Give and bequeath ["eldest" erased] to my eldest son
James Grimes five Shillings 6th I give and
Bequeath to my daughter Rebekah five shillings
7th I give and Bequeath to my son Charles
Grimes three Pounds and then to Call in my
Out debts to pay my true and honest debts
and the balance of my property to ["equally" erased] be
Equally divided Among my four Children that
is at home with me Viz Elizabeth, Phoebe,
Lydia and Ann Grimes if thi[they] can agree among

Them selves If not it must go To sale
& the money Equally divided among them four
Named and I hereby make and ordain my
Beloved daughter Elizabeth Grimes and
Thomas Wilson Executors of this my last will
and Testament in Witness whereof I the said
Phebe Grimes have to this my last will and
Testament, set my hand and seal, the day
and year A-bove written)         her

                                 Orange County Augst. Term 1801
The Execution of the forgoing last Will and Testament of Phebe Grimes
Decd. was duly proved in open Court by the Oaths of John Latta and
Caleb Wilson subscribing Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded
at the same time the Executors therein named qualified accordingly
