Marcus Harris - July 15, 1875 I, Marcus Harris, of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say 1st I desire my body buried suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends, and my funeral expenses paid, together with all my just debts, out of the 1st money that may come into the hands of my Executor to be hereinafter named. 2nd I will my wife, Parthenia F. Harris, my Homestead tract of lands containing seventy two acres ( I devise that the line between the 72 acre tract & the tract of land whereon R.H. Harris lives be so run as to take in the spring on the land left to my wife, Parthenia Harris) I also desire that thirty acres of land be cut off of the tract whereon R.H. Harris lives, and adjoining the lands of Marcus Tilly & A. K. Umstead and be added to the seventy two acres given to my wife Parthenia Harris. I will all my personal property to Parthenia Harris. My will is that she hold the above property during her life, but at her death I desire that it go to my daughter Dora & my two sons G. B. Harris and W.F. Harris. 3rd I will, A.K. Umstead fifty acres of land adjoining the lands of Edmund Tilly & known as the Johnson land said lands to be divided by a north and south line. The said A.K. Umstead in consideration of the above fifty acres of Land must pay two hundred dollars to a mortgage that Dennis Tilly holds on said land. 4th I will to my son Robert H. Harris the remainder of the land whereon he now lives supposed to be about one hundred and forty five acres Provided he pays to Dennis Tilly the balance of the money due on the mortgage that he holds against said land after A.K. Umstead pays the two hundred dollars as above provided for. 5th I hereby constitute and appoint A.K. Umstead my lawful Executor to Execute this my last will and testament and every part and clause thereof. I also revoke and declare null and void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made.
