I Susan Hartte of the County of Orange and state North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament, in manner and form following that is to say: - First That my Executor (hereinafter named) shall provide for my body a decent burial and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts out of the monies that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate Second, I give and devise to my friend Susannah Thompson, who now lives with me, the plantation on which I now live adjoining the lands of John Bain and others, with all my monies, property of all sorts goods and chattels that I may possess at the time of my decease, to have and to hold to her and and[sic] her heirs in fee simple, forever And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend James Riley ---- my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I the said Susan Hartte do hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of July AD 1859 Sealed signed published and } declared by the said Susan Hart } Susan Hart (seal) to be her last will in the presence } of us John N.
