All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Will Book Volume A, pages 210-211 Written: January 24, 1779 Recorded: Feb 1780 Testator: George Hill [Will Book Volume A, page 210] In the Name of God Amen ~~~ the Twenty fourth of January in the Year of our Lord 1779 I George Hill of the County of Orange and Province of North Carolina being very sick and Weak in Body but perfect mind and Memory thanks be given unto God for the same and Calling to Mind the Mortallity of my Body and knowing that it is Appointed for all men once to Die; do make an[d] Ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principaly and first of all I give and Recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Decent manner at the Discretion of my executors Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the mighty power of God and touching Such worldly Estate where with it Hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give[and] Dispose of the same in Manner and form Following that is to say ~~ [Will Book Volume A, page 211] In the firs[t] plate[sic] I Desire all my Estate to Continue in the hands of my Beloved wife Except one bay mare Colt I give and bequeath to my son Henry Henry by him freely to be possessed and enjoyed ~~ so Long as she continue din her Widowhood then to be Equally to be Divided amongst every one of my Children and her to have her equal part James Wood and Joseph Wood whom I Likewise Constantly make and ordain my only and soul[sic] Executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly Disallow, Revoke and Disannull all and every other former testament Wills and Legacies Requests by me in any ways before this time Named Willed and bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and No other to be my last will and testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above writ[t]en ~~~~ Signed sealed published pronounced and his Declared by the said George Hills as his George (+) Hill (seal) last will and testament in the mark presence of Thomas Guin } Orange County February Court 1780 her } The Execution of the above will was duly Mealey (+) } Proved in open Court by the Oaths of Thomas mark } Guin & James Wood & and Ordered to be recorded James Wood } Test Nath. Testator's wife, Sarah Hill, is identified in signatures at end of inventory.
