All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Loose Will, NC Archives CR 073.801, Will Book Volume G, pages 424-425 Written: January 18, 1864 Recorded: Feb 1864 Testator: Sarah Hopkins In the name of God, Amen I, Sarah Hopkins, of the County of Orange, and State of N.Carolina, being in sound mind, and of a disposing memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following That is to Say: 1st My will and desire is that my Executor hereinafter named shall procure for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends, and pray all my just debts whatsoever or to whomsoever owing out of the monies that may first come into his hands as a part of my estate: I give and bequeath to my five Children Mary Can dis, Lorenzo, Peternow, and my Grand daughter Sarah Jane the tract of land whereon I now live to be equally divided between them absolutely for ever. 2 I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary one Bed and furniture absolutely for ever. 3rd I give and bequeath to My daughter Candis one bed and furniture absolutely forever 4th I give and bequeath to my son Lorenzo one bed and furniture absolutely forever 5th I give and bequeath to my daughter Petternow one Bed and furniture absolutely forever [page 2] 6th I give and bequeath to my son Benton one bed and furniture absolutely for ever. 7th I give and bequeath to my daughters Mary and Candis one bed and furniture to be equally divided between them. 8th I give to my daughter Mary one fall- ing leaf Table and one Cupboard. 9th I give to my daughter Candis one fall- ing leaf Table, and also two other little Tables 10 I give to my daughters Mary and Candis the remainder of my household and Kitch- -en furniture to be equally divided be- tween them. 11 I give to my son Benton my negro boy Frank absolutely forever. 12 I give to my daughter Mary one horese,[sic] Cow and Yearling absolutely forever. 13 I give to my daughter Candis one Young Cow. 14 I give to my daughter Mary all my far ming tools absolutely forever. 15th, I give to my daughter Mary all my Corn, fodder, Shucks, & Pork that may be on hand at the time of my death also all my stock of hogs absolutely for ever. Lastly I constitute and appoint my brother Benton Ray my true and lawful Executor to execute this my last will and Testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same, hereby revoking all other wills and testaments heretofore made by me.
