Jordan Jan 23rd 1892 [next page] In the name of God Amen. I, William H. Jordan of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and disposing memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and publish this my last Will and testament, in the following words and figures to wit: Item first: I give and devise to my beloved wife Mary F Jordan my home tract of land whereon I now live, formally known as a part of the Madden land for and during the term of her natural life to be and remain as home for her and my daughter Virginia W Jordan so long as my said daughter Virginia W may wish or remain single at the death of my said beloved wife. I give and devise the same to may said daughter Virginia and my son Jefferson D Jordan in equal share and interest in fee simple and forever and to their heirs and [next page} assign forever, Item two: I give and devise to my said beloved wife Mary F Jordan all my personal property of every kind and description including therein all house- hold and kitchen furniture, but does not include any thing which I have heretove given my daughter Virginia or which she has acquired herself, as to that I is to remain hers absolutely. I direct that as to all the balance of my real estate, including a piece of land to be cut off of the home tract on the west end thereof, by a line running from William Parkers’ South East Corner, to a corner of my McBroom tract (NE Corner) and supposed to contain about forty acres, but be the same more of less to be sold by my Executors hereinafter named upon the following terms to wit: One third in cash and one third in six and twelve months, but my Executors are not to sell the [next page} Riley tract until release of Dower, and I further direct, that in selling my land, my Executrexes will sell in such quanties or tracts as my be in their Judgment to the best interest of my estate. I further direct, that in case my said Jefferson D and my daughter Virginia W should be without issue of their bodies, then the lands given to them in a former Item of this my will shall go to the surviving children of my Sons Thomas M and John W Jordan. I further direct that out of the proceeds of my lands directed to be sold, my Executrexes shall pay all my just debts and all other expense in Executing my will and as my son Dr Thomas M Jordan has not been advanced any by me, I give him the sum of one thousand dollars to be paid to him by my Executrexes out of the proceeds as aforesaid, and the surplus which may remain after [next page} the payments of debt & expenses and the special legacy to Dr Thomas M Jordan I direct to be equally divided between all my said children, and if any of my said children shall be dead leaving issue, the said issue or child shall repsent the decased parent, but it is my wish and I especially direct, that any of my children to whome or for whome I have paid money or become liable to pay money as surety or otherwise shall account with my executrixes out of their share of such surplus Lastly, I hereby constitute and appoint my wife Mary F Jordan and my daughter Virginia W Jordan my sole Executrexes to this my last will and testament In testimony where of I the said William H Jordan doth hereunto set my hand and seal the 7h day of August AD 1891 Witness: W.
