All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Will Book Volume A, pages 207-208 Written: July 15, 1777 Recorded: May 1779 Testator: Martin Lay [Will Book Volume A, page 207] In the name of God, Amen, I Martin Lay of Orange County being very sick & Weak, but in perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God for it calling unto mined[sic] the mortality of my boty[sic] and knowing that it is appoint for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say principally & first I give & recommand[sic] my soul into the Hand of Allmighty God that give it, & my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, that is to say, first of all I recommend to my Executors to pay my Depts[sic] out of my Estate, and to my Dafter Catherreney I give all my Moveable Estate during hur Widowhud and to live on the plase and after hur decease the Land and plantation belongs to my son Henry Lay and also I give to my son George Lay one Acre of Land joining his land one[on] the South Corner and likewise Constitute [Will Book Volume A, page 208] constitute make and ordain Jacob Allbright and George Lay my Sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
