I William Lewis of the County of Orange and State of No.Carolina being very Sick and weak of body ["but of" x-out] but of perfect Mind and Memory thanks be given unto God. Calling unto Mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is a[p]pointed for all men once to die, do Make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and Recommend my soul into the hand of Allmighty God that gave It and my body I Recommend to the Earth and as touching such Worldly estate wharewith it has pleased God to Bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form: 1st I give and Bequeath unto Agness Lewis my wife all my Real and perishable Estate during her life or wido[w]hood or if she should marry she will Receive a Childs part My desire is that my two sons Charles Lewis and Passons[Parsons?] Lewis ["shall have my land" x-out] and my wife Agness Lewis shall have my land Equally divided amongst them also my only daughter Franky Lewis shall be made equal with my two sons Charles & Passons & my wife Agness Lewis out of my perishable Estate My desire is that my wife Agness Lewis shall be my Executrix to this my last will and testament turn over [page 2] In Witness whareof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 18th March 1818 Signe'd seal'd and deliver'd in the William Lewis (Seal) preasants of James Nutt Jurat Pumphrett Gooch Exr. qualified [Will Book Volume D, page 539] In the Name of God Amen.
