Thompson pasthunter@earthlink.net January 9, 2013, 6:27 pm Source: Nc Probate Records, Orange Wills 1869-1893 Vol H Written: August 16, 1852 Recorded: June 7, 1869 Record and Probate of Wills in Probate Court State of North Carolina Orange Probate Court 7 June 1869 A paper writing purporting to be the last will and Testament of Willis Marcom deceased is exhibited before the Court for Probate, and the due execution thereof is proved by the oath and examination of M. A. Angier and George w. vickers the subscribing witnesses thereto. It is therefore considered by the Court, that said paper writing and every part therof is the last Will and Testament of the said Willis Marcom and it is ordered by the Court that the same be admitted to Probate and filed. Amd thereupon Malinda Marcom the Executrix therein named qualified according to law. The Said paper writing is in the words & begins following to wit; "I Willis Marcom of the county of Orange and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare, this, my last will and Testament, in manner and form following First: That my Executor, hereinafter named, shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends, and pay all funeral exprenses together with my just debts howsoever and to whomsoever owing, out of themoney that may first come into her hands as apart or parcel of my estate. Item: I give and bequeath to my wife Belinda all my lands containing about four hundred & ninty acres adjorning the lands of James Vickers, John Marcom & others. I also give to my wife Belinda the following slaves, Viz: one man by the name of Isum one boy named Squire, one girl named Rachael one girl named Lucy and one small boy named Isum one boy by the name of Dick. I also give to my wife Belinda, my stock of all kinds, consisting of Horses, Cows, Hogs & sheep, all my farming tools, all my household and kitchen furniture, also all the moneys or notes that I may have at my death. My will is for all the above named estate to be hers during her natural life. & Iher death to be disposed of in the following manner, that is to say for all of my estate that is remaining after her death to be equally divided between my brothers & sisters. I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend Belinda Marcom my lawful Executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and testament, according to the true and intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause therof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witess whereof, I the said Willis Marcum do hereunto set my hand and seal this the 16th day of August A D 1852.
