All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Loose Will, NC Archives CR 073.801, Will Book Volume C, pages 80-81 Written: February 29, 1796 Recorded: May 1796 Testator: Thomas Mulhollan In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Mulhollan of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina being weak of Body but of sound and perfect mind and memo- -ry blessed be God for his kind mercies and calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die -- I therefore [make] and ordain this my last Will and Testament to wit -- I first and principally give and Recommend my soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent and Christian manner at the discreation of my Executors Nothing do[u]bting by at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate Wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life.- I give, demise and dispose off[sic] in the following manner to wit.-- After all my funeral Expenses is[sic] paid and all my just Debts I then give and bequeath unto my dear and loving wife Martha the Plantation I now live on during her life time or widowhood Itim I Give to my wife a nagroe Girl named Mary a good horse and saddle and all the house hold furniture Except one bed which is to be at her own disposal when she Deceases. Itim and after all my debts [are] paid the Expira -tion [of] six months I Give to my daughter Mary a horse worth thirty pounds. As to my four sons Hugh, John, Thomas & Henry I lieve[leave] my whole Mumford Lands to be Equally Divided in quantity and quality the Other Lands I have to be disposed of as conveniency[sic] requires - Itim I give to my Daughter Elizabeth one horse worth thirty pounds a Good saddle and bridle two Cows and Calfs[sic] one bed and furniture and fifty pounds Specie [page 2] Or a nagro Girl named Milley which ever the Executors pleases And after all my Creditors are satisfied the remainder of my property Consisting in Lands in Cumberland and this county, Negroes, Horses Cows, Sheep, a still and a brass Kittle or what remains of them to be Praised[appraised] and then Equally devided betwe[e]n my four sons before mentioned. the remain- der part of my little trifling articles and stock too tedious to mention are to go to the use of the family and plan =tation. Except my survey Instruments which I give to my son Hugh. Itim and lastly my will is that my loving wife and my son Hugh be whole and sole Executor and Executrix to this my Last Will and Testiment.
