Orange County, NC Probate Record:  N.C. State Archives C.R. 073.508:
Intestate records.  Amos Nichols by George Nichols

Administration filed 11 Jun 1850 by George Nichols, son.  Heirs: Mariah,
wife of Josiah Guess, Duncan, Peggy, wife of George Jackson, Jonathan,
Nelson, Nelson, heirs of Wilson, Person R., g-dau.Mary Ann Turner, wife of
James Turner, gr-son, Wilson A., a minor.  Six slaves: Daniel, Hannah,
Henry, Jeff, Dave and Rody.  Land sold by auction 22 Oct 1850; 1 tract to
C.R. Wilson and the other to heirs of Duncan (?). From Equity Court Papers,
Amos owned two tracts of land.  One being 330 acres lying on waters of
Little River adjoining George Nichols, Elzy Harris and others.  The other
249 acres adjoining lands of George Ray, Wm. A. Graham and others.

Contributor note: Amos Nichols, son of Jonathan Nichols,  married Rachel
Riggs, daughter of George and Sarah Riggs 12 Mar 1801 Orange Co., NC
