Testator: Sarah Piper

In the name of God Amen I Sarah Pier of the County of
Orange & State of North Carolina being weak in body but of
sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty
of my earthly existence do this 19th day of September AD 1860
make and Ordain this Instrument to be my last Will and Tes=
=tament in manner and form following that is to say that
my executor hereinafter named provide for my body a
decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relations and in
the usual Christian manner and that all funeral expenses
be fully paid Out of any monies that may first come into the
hands of my executor as part & parcel of my estate

Item I give, devise and bequeath to my two sisters Rachel
Piper & Katherine Piper during their natural lives and the lifetime
of the survivor all my property real and personal of every discrip-
=tion of which I may be possessed at the time of my death
and after the death of the survivor of my said Sisters my
will and desire is, that, all of said personal property that
may remain together with, the Land now belonging to me be equally
divided between my niece Sarah Strayhorn, & George Piper
share and share alike to them their heirs and assigns forever

And lastly I do hereby Constitute and appoint my Worthy
friend James H. Pratt my sole executor to all intents & purposes
to execute this my Last Will and testament and every part
& clause thereof according to the true intent and meaning of
the same, hereby revoking all ["all" x-out] other wills and testaments by me
heretofore at any time made In Testimony Whereof of I have here=
=unto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year
first above written
Signed, sealed, published and declared          her
by the said Sarah Piper as and for her    Sarah (X) Piper (seal)
last will and testament in presence of us       mark
who by her request attest the same in her
presence and in the presence of each other
