ORANGE COUNTY WILL OF DAVID PINKERTON, 1764

In the Name of God, Amen.
The twenty seventh day of February in the year of our Lord 1764.
I, DAVID PINKERTON of North Carolina in the County of Orange
and Parish of Saint Matthews, yeoman Being very sick and weak
in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto
God.  Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and
and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make
and ordain this my last will and testament this is to say---
Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the
hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the
earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the
discretion of my Executor, nothing doubting,but at the General
Ressurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power
of God and as touching such worldy estate where with it hath
pleased God to help me in this life, I give devise and dispose
of the same in the following manner and form:  IMPRIMIS: It is
my will and I do order that in the first place all my just debts
and funeral charges be paid and satisfied--- ITEM: I give and
bequeath unto MARGARET, my dearly beloved wife the Bay
P---ing Mare and her saddle & bridle together with her bed and
bed clothes and her maintainance out of the estate during her
life if she do(es) not marry but if she should marry let her next
husband provide for her.  ITEM: I give to my well beloved son,
JOHN PINKERTON the stallion with white mane and tail.
ITEM: I give to my two sons WILLIAM and DAVID PINKERTON
there heirs and ajoyns forever all my plantation whereon I now
dwell to be equally divided between them as possible.  
ITEM: I give to my daughter MARTHA ten pounds proclamation
money and the little black mare when she come to the age of 
eighteen years and her maintainance of the plantation untill
she is otherways provided for.  ITEM: I give to my daugher
MARY PINKERTON ten pounds proclamation money and the
horse that is called her own when she comes to the age of
eighteen years and her maintainance of the plantation untill
she is other ways provided for.  ITEM: I give to my step
daughter, AGNES TRICKEY five shillings sterling and it
is my will that the stock shall be for the maintainance of the
family and working of the lands and lastly I constitute make
and ordain my wife MARGARET and my son JOHN PINKERTON
my only and soul executors of this my last will and testament 
and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannull all and 
every other former testaments, wills, legatees and exectutors
by me in any will before this time named, willed & bequeathed.
Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will 
and testament in witness whereof I ----- hereunto set my hand
and seal this day and year above written.
Signed, Sealed, Published & Pronounced
and delivered by the said DAVID PINKERTON
as his last will and testament.
