Testator: Stanford Powel

I Stanford Powel of the County of Orange and
State of North Carolina being of Sound mind and mem
-ory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence
do make and declare this my last Will and Testament
in manner and form following, that is to say:- First
that my Executor (hereinafter named) shall provide for
my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my
relations and friends, and pay all funeral expences
together with my just debts howsoever and to whomsoe
-ver oweing out of the monies that may first come into
his hands as a part and parcel of my estate

Item. I give and devise to my brother John Powel
all of my property of every description that is to say
Lands stock and every thing I possess to him and
his heirs forever

Item. my will is that my Executor sell all of
my property on a credit of nine months and
pay over the money to my brother John Powel
after paying off all of my Just d[e]bts if there shou
-ld be any

And lastly - I do here by constitute and appoint my trus
-ty friend, Manly Snipes my lawful executor to all in
-tents and purposes to execute this my last will and testame
-nt according to the true in tent & meaning of the same
and every part and clause there of hereby revoking and
declaring utterly Void all other wills & testaments by me here
-tofore made --- I[n] witness whereof I the said Stanford
Powel do here unto set my hand and seal this 8th
day of August AD 1860

Note: The page after page 254 is numbered "355".  These are hand-written pages numbers. Pages 254 and 355 are facing pages. The text from 254 continues onto 355, indicating that there are no missing pages, rather simply a mistake in numbering.

Estate Papers comprise 24 pages and are found in a folder labeled "Powell, Stanford (1861)".  Testators father is Charles Powel.  Testator died in Feb 1861.  Testator's brothers names: Jones Powell, Nathaniel Powel and Charles Powel.
