All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Will Book Volume A, pages 121-122 Written: June 20, 1772 Recorded: unknown date Testator: Robert Smith [Will Book Volume A, page 121] In the Name of God Amen the Twentyeth day of June in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred & Seventy Two I Robert Smith of Saint Mathew Parish in the County of Orange Being my Sick and Weak of Body but of Perfect mind & memory thanks Be give unto God there fore Calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all me nonce to Dye do make and Ordain this my Last will & Testament that is to Say Principally and first of all I give and Recommend my Self unto the hands of God that ~~~ gave it and for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian Like and Decent manner at the discretion of my Executors Nothing dobuting But att the gennal[sic] Resurrection I shall Receive the Same a gain by the mighty Power of God and as Touching Such Worley[worldly] Estate wherewith it Hath Pleased God to Bless me in this Life I give divise and Dispose of the Same in the following manner and form Imprimis it is my will and I do order that in the first Place all my Just debts and Funnal[sic] Charges to be Paid & Satisfied Item I give and Bequeath unto Mary my dearly Beloved Wife two Cows one named Chery the other Blosom with the two Old Sheep and hir Bed and Be Cloths Likewise half of the HouseHold Planishing[furnishing] and hir Saddle I give my Son John five Shillings I give my Daughter Elizabeth five Shillings I give my Daughter Mary five Shillings I give my Daughter Isbel five shillings I give Joseph McCaffity One Pide Yearling Heifer with a white face Itim I give to my well Beloved Son William Smith whom I Like wise Constitute mane and Ordain my only and Soul[sic] Executor of this my Last Will and ~~~ Testament all and Singular the Hosue & Improvement with one Horse and Young Mair with all the Rest of the Cattle and of the Sheep with the Remainder of the Household Planishing[sic] and Hogs with all and Every thing Belonging to the Place to him his heirs and Assigns for Ever and I do hereby utterly disallow Revoke & Disannul all and Every other former Testaments wills Legacies and Executors by me in any ways before this time Named Willed & Bequeathed [Will Book Volume A, page 122] Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last will and Testament in Witness where of I have her unto set my Hand and Seal the day and year above written Signed Sealed and Published Witness Present Pronounced & Declared by me John Walker The Said Robert Smith as his Robert Chaffin Last Will & Testament in the Presents of us the Subscribers North Carolina { Orange County { The within Will was Exhibited in open Court and Proved by the Oath of John Walker one of the Subscribing witnesses there to and Ordered to be Recorded ~~~~ Test Francis Nash C.C.
