Know all men by these presents that I Peter Burton of
Mechlenburg County & State of Virginia for and in
Consideration of the Sum of Forty pounds to him
in hand paid before the Sealing in[and] delivering of the
presents, by Abraham Thompson of the county of Orange
and State of North Carolina, the receipt whereof I
hereby Acknowledge myself fully satisfied, have
given granted bargained and sold, and by these
presents do give grant bargain & sell, deliver unto
the aforesaid Abraham Thompson one Negroe Girl
by the name of Jude, to have and to hold the said
bargained Negroe unto him the said Abraham
Thompson, his heirs and assigns forever, to the only
use and behoof of the said Abraham Thompson
his heirs and assigns forever, have bargained against
the titles & claims of all person or persons whatsoever

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and Seal this 24th day of August one thousand
