In the name of God Amen this fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty three I Mary Thompson of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina being weak in body but of perfect mind and Memory thanks be to God therefore Calling unto mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men and women once to die do make and Ordain this my last Will and testament that is to Say principally and first of all I give and Recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I Recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall reseve the Same by the mighty power of God and as touching Such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and devise in the manner and form following --- Item it is my will and I do order that all my Just debts and funeral Charges be paid and Satisfied in the first place Item I give and bequeath to my Sister Hannah Thompson one negro boy Known by the name of Simon likewise one Chest of Drawers one Walnut table too beds and furniture one walnut Chest likewise all the money belong =ing to me of my father Thomas Thompson Estate now in the hands of my Brother John Thompson Executors [page 2] I Likewise do Constitute and appoint my true and trusty friends Thomas Thompson and Robert Thompson whole and sole Executor[s] of this my last Will and testimant in witness whereof I have set my hand and afixt my Seal the day and year above written Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of J[?] Clendenon her John Thompson Mary (X) Thompson mark Likewise it is my Will the said Negro boy Simon to be divided Equally amongst the[?] Thomas Thompson Nelly Thompson and Mary Thompson ["Children of that"] that is meaning the Children of Said Brothers and Sisters of the Mary Thompson at the death of the said Mary Thompson or his Sister Hannah Thompson on the longest liver of the said sisters in witness wher[e]of I have set my hand and affixt my Seal this fourth day of February 1823 Joe[?] Clendenen her John Thompson Jurat
