All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Loose Will, NC Archives CR 073.801, Will Book Volume D, pages 49-50 Written: July 2, 1801 Recorded: Aug 1801 Testator: James Watson, Sr In the Name of God Amen I James Watson Senr. of the County of Orange & State of North Carolina. being weak in body but of sound memory Blessed be God, do this day the second of July in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & one, do make this my last Will & testament in the manner following, Viz. -- first I Give to my Wife Rosanna all my estate both real & Personal; only What is hereafter Mentioned during her Natural life - Next I give to my son John three Negroes Sampson, Nancy & George, and all that I gave him when he left me --- and Next I Will to my Son James one Negroe boy name'd Sandy & all that I gave him when he left me also I give to his son James one Negro girl nam'd Grace - Next I Will to my Daughter Peggy three Negroes Hanna Eve & Toney, one mare & Colt now nam'd to her two feather Beds and furniture also eight head of Cattle & eight of sheep and the plantation I purchased of Henry Moore at the Death of my Wife She paying James Watson one hundred Dollars in six months after she get possession of sd. land ~~ Next I Will to my Son David one Negroe man Nam'd Harry Next I Will to my son Jonathan A Negroe boy Nam'd Hardy & my year old mare also my Blacksmith Tolls[sic], and the plantation I now live on, at the death of my Wife; also two head of Cattle ~~ Next I give to my Daughter Elisabeth my Negro Woman Amy also I leave her in the Care of her Mother untill her death and afterwards to the Care of my daughter Peggy Provided She maintains her genteelly during her life, She is to have her estate; if not Justly dealt with then to go under the Care of my son John and her estate to be his at her death; ~~ And If my daughter Peggy dies without Issue, all that I have gave her is to be equally divided amongst my four sons Viz John James, David & Jonathan and at the death of my wife Rosanna Watson I do Allow all her estate to be equally divided Amongst all my Children ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And I make & ordain my son John Watson Sole Executor of this my last Will; and trust for the Intents and purposes of this my Will Contain'd in Witness whereof I the said James Watson have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand & seal the day and year Above Written ~~ Sign'd, seal'd and Acknowledg'd James Watson (seal) In presence of us James Moore } Jurat John Moore } Exr Qualifd.
