All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Will Book Volume A, pages 181-182 Written: June 1, 1774 Recorded: Nov 1774 Testator: Jonathan West [Will Book Volume A, page 181] In the Name of God Amen I Jonathan West of Orange County in the Province of North Carolina Planter being sick and weak in body but of Sound and disposing mind and mimory thanks be to almighty God for the Same do make this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to Say first I Bequeath my Soul to Almighty God that gave it and my Body to the Earth to be Buried in a Decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executor hereafter Named and as touching Such worldly Estate as it has please God to give my I give & Dispose of the Same as follows ~~ Item I give and Bequeath unto my Beloved wife Elenor West my whole Estate of what Kind or Nature soever both Real and Personal by hir to be Injoyed during hir natural life with out the Let or hindrance of any of my relations whatsoever the[that?] maybe and at hir decease the one third part of what shall then be remaining to be by her disposed of According as She Shall think proper Item I give and bequeath unto My Cozen Jonathan West the other two part of what Shall be remaining after the death of my Said wife to him his heirs and assigns for Ever Item if the Said Jonathan West sho[u]ld Die before my said Wife it is my Will and desire that she shall have the disposing of the Same two parts to him hereby given after that manner she shall think fitt and proper ~~ Item I Leaving my said wife Elanor West my whole and sole Executrix of this my Last will and testament hereby revoking Disanuling and making Void all & Every will or wills here to fore by me made and declaring this and not other to be my Last Will and Testament ~~~~ In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this first day of ["January" x-out] June in he Year of Our Lord 1774 [Will Book Volume A, page 182] Signed Sealed published and pronounced Declared by the Said Jonathan West as and for his Last will & Testament in the Presents of us the Subscribers who also witnessed the Same in his presents Jonah Black Jonathan West ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ James Tinnen ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Orange County } Novmbr.
