I William Whitted Senior of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina being of Sound disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and testament in manner and form following towit; first I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Bird Six Hundred Dollars. Secondly I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Hannah Harris the sum of Five Hundred Dollars as she has but One Child ~~ Thirdly I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Holden the sum of Six Hundred and Fifty Dollars. Fourthly I give and bequeath to my daughter Susanna Thompson the sum of Six Hundred and fifty Dollars. Fifthly I give and bequeath to my Grandson Samuel Bigeloe One hundred Dollars. Sixthly I give and Bequeath to my grand Daughter Nancy Young One Hundred Dollars ~~~ Seventhly I give and Bequeath to my Grandson William Whitted son of Levi Whitted's one Hundred Dollars - The above Legacies to be paid out of Moneys and Notes of Hand that I shall be possessed with at my decease . . . . . . . . . . Eighthly I give and Bequeath to my Son William Whitted my Negro Man Frank. It is also my particular will and desire that my Molattoe Boy Dick should belong to my son William Whitted as a Servant and Slave until the month of January in the year 1826 at which time he is to be Emancipated and set free forever thereafter ~~~~ I give and Bequeath to my son Levi Whitted his heirs and assigns forever the tract of land and plantation I now live on likewise fifty [page 2] Acres of Land Adjoining Isaac Holden's Mill Tract also I give and Bequeath to my son Levi my Clock also my Will and desire is that my son Levi Should have my old Negro woman Silby and her Daughter Judith - - - - - - It is my Will and desire that the Whole remainder of my Property Both real and personal shall be Equally divided Between my two sons Viz William and Levi . . . . . . . . . In consideration of What I have left my son William it is my Will and desire that after the Emancipa- =tion of my Servant Dick, that if he should become disabled and not Capable of getting his living that my Son William Should support him Lastly I nominate constitute and Appoint my two Sons William and Levi Whitted my Whole and Sole Executors of this my last Will and testament hereby revoking and disannuling all other and former Wills & bequests by me heretofore [made] declaring and publishing this Only to be my last Will and testament. Codicil to the foregoing Will Whereas on the 24th day of March 1814 I William Whitted Senr. executed the foregoing as my last Will & testament and in the first Item thereof I bequeathed to my Daughter Ma[r]y Bird Six hundred dollars as her legacy but since the Execution of said Will my said Daughter Mary Bird has deceased and being desirous of preventing any disputes or altercations, I have thought it most advise -able to dispose of the legacy which I intended for her in the following Manner (Viz) To William Bird, James Bird, Sarah Walker, Nancy Thompson, Susannah Anderson Jehu Bird & Fanny Hamilton (children of the deceased Mary Bird) To each of them I will and bequeath Fifty Dollars ~~~~ To my Daughters Elizabeth Holder & Susannah Thompson I Will a further legacy of One hundred Dollars Each in addition to the legacies heretofore given them ~~~~ To my Grand Son Samuel Bigalow I Will Fifty dollars in addition to the One hundred dollars heretofore bequeathed him ~~~~ In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 4th day of August 1815 Test. Whitted [Sr] (seal) J McKerall Orange County February Term 1816 The Execution of the foregoing last Will & testament of William Whitted Senr. was duly proved in Open Court by the oaths of Thomas Flint & Henry Neal subscribing witnesses thereto and the Codicil proved by the oath of David Yarborough one of the subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded, at the same time the Executors therein named were qualified accordingly Test Additional Comments: Will Book Volume D, pages 468-470 Recorded Feb 1816 No estate papers found. There is a folder labeled "Whitted, William (1822)". It is possible some of those pages pertain to this estate.
