CHATHAM COUNTY, NC - WILLS - Abraham Whitaker, 10 Dec 1803 ----¤¤¤¤---- Orange Co., N.C. 10 December 1803 In the name of God Amen this Tenth day of December in the year of our Lord God one Thousand eight hundred & Three I Abraham Whitaker of Orange County & State of North Carolina being in Perfect & sound mind & memore thanks be given unto Almighty God for the Same and knowing that it is appointed unto all me once to Die I do hereby constitue Ratifie and confirm this my last will and testament (that is to say) I first of all recommend my soul and body unto the hands of Almighty God who first gave them to be Buried in an Christian like manner at the Discretion of my Executor hopeing that at the General resurrection of the Dead to receive full Forgiveness of my Sins through Jesus Christ our Lord and I do hereby give and bequeath of the same in the following manner & form Item I give and Bequeath unto my loving wife Martha Whitaker all and singular my household goods & furniture with the Stock of Horses Cattle hogs and Sheep belonging thereunto During her widowhood I also give unto my Beloved son William Whitaker one hundred & eighty acres of Land Bounded on the East by John Redmonds land on the North by Cardins and Jacob Allens Land thence So to John Caplas land I also give unto my beloved son Abram Whitaker all the Land in the fork of the Branches where he now lives running up Burres Creed until he comes to the Old line then running with the Old line until he comes to the corner then west along the line formerly John Poteets to Thomas Redings land to hold the Same be the number of acres more or less I also give unto my Beloved son Jacob Whitaker all the Parcel of Land from John Redings line Bounded by my old line to the Old road that leads from my house to where John Poteet formerly lived now Belonging to Thomas Holliway (Holloway) and after my wife Deceast or Widowhood to have Twenty five acres along John Redings line north of my plantation. I also give unto my youngest son James Whitaker after his mothers Deceast or Widowhood to have the land & plantation whereon I now liveth all the land within the above mentioned Bounds I also Desire after my wife Martha Deceast or Widowhood that all the stock with the household goods and furniture be Equally Divided among my sons and Daughters Isaac Whitaker William Whitaker Abram Whitaker Jacob Whitaker & James Whitaker & my Daughters Joana Holliway (Holloway) Hannah Barbee Elizabeth Riley with five pound already paid Mary Riley with Six pounds already paid I also Desire that my Youngest Son, James Should have a Horse Bridle & Sadle and Two years Schooling out of my Estate before Equally divided I also desire that my son Jacob and James should have a feather bed & furniture I do appoint John Cabe & Henry Bunch as my sole Executors of this my last will & Testament Resolving and Disannuling all others and former Wills and Testaments by me made.
