All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Loose Will, NC Archives CR 073.801, Will Book Volume D, pages 398-399 Written: December 10, 1813 Recorded: Feb 1814 Testator: John Wilkinson In the name of God Amen, I John Wilkinson of the County of Orange & State of North Carolina being in a low State of health, but yet of sound mind & memory do make & constitute this my Last Will & testament, first of all I do most devoutly commit my immortal soul, into the hands of Almighty God, who gave it, I wish my body to be buried with a desent Christian burial, & as touching my wourldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me, I desire may be disposed of thus, after paying all my Just debts & funeral charges, to wit, I bequeath unto my wellbeloved wife Rebecka all the household & kitchen furniture, or so much of it as she shall stand in need of (the clock excepted when my daughter Rachel comes of age) during her natural life, the half of it then to be given to my daughter Rachel & the other half to be disposed of at my wife's pleasure, I also leave unto my wellbeloved wife Rebecka, the home plantation to be disposed of as she sees proper at her death, together with the waggon & all the farming utensial[s], that is these are also left unto my wife Rebecka & to be given unto my daughter Rachel at my wifes death, my Negros I wish to be equally divided between my wife & daughter, my wifes to be disposed of as she sees proper at her death, & my daughters to be hired out until she come of age, I also leave unto my wife the crop of wheat that is now in the ground, with as much of the present provisions of temporal life, as will do her & her family for one year all of my property that is not mentioned above I desire may be equally divided between my wife & daughter (the plantation that Charles Wood now lives on excepted) my Stock I wish to be kept until next Spring & then sold, my wifes part to be disposed of at her death as she sees proper, the plantation that Charles Wood now lives on I leave unto my daughter Rachel, I desire that my wife should ra[i]se my daughter Rachel & cause her to be well educated at my wifes expence, I lastly make & constitute my two trusty friends James Lapslie & Daniel Wilkinson Executors of this my last will & testament as witness my hand & seal this 10th [page 2] of December 1813[?] in presents of Moses Guin Jurat Thomas Wilson Jos. Estate Papers comprise eight pages and are found in a folder labeled "Wilkinson, John (1814)" Estate sale lists the sale of two Negros, but the entries were crossed out. Appears to read "Negroe Hiram" and "Negroe Adelade"?
