Receiv'd August 28th 1782 of Ralph Williams the full sum
of one thousand and five pounds in Specie Certificats, being the
full Purchase of a Negroe Man named Africa, formerly the
Property of Thomas McKyht or Parker Sold by us at Publish
Vendue Agreeable to the Confiscation Law
                           John Ramsey     } Comms. of Confist
                           John Montgomery } Propery. for
                           Zachr. Hermon   } the County of
                                           } Chatham

I do by these Presents Transfare and make Over my Right &
Property of the above mentioned Negroe Man Africa unto
William Courtney, having received full Vallue of him this 28th
day of August 1782
