All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Loose Will, NC Archives CR 073.801, Will Book Volume D, pages 347-350 Written: May 13, 1812 Recorded: unknown date Testator: Edward Wilson In the Name of God Amen this 13th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve, I Edward Wilson of the County of Orange and State of N.Carolina being at this time weake of body but of perfect sound Mind and Memory, thanks be to Almighty God for the same, and calling to mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that it is appoint for all men once to die, have thought proper to make and ordain this and no other as my last Will and Testament and first and principly I recommend my soul to Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner by my Executors whom I shall here= =after appoint, and as touching such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I have thought proper to dispose of in the following manner (to wit) And first I give and bequeath to my loving wife Rachel and my two loving Daughters Polly and Nancy the Dwelling house and land that I now live on except such part that shall be otherwise desposed of hereafter, their lifetime if they live single or do not Marry, I also give to My loving wife Rachel My Negro boy Jack her lifetime also two beds and furniture, one sorrel mare and two cows and at her Death the above mentioned Negro Jack the two beds and furniture the sorrel mare and two cows ["to to to my Daughter Polly" x-out] to be equally divided among all my children (turn over) [page 2] Item I give and bequeath to my Loving Daughter Polly one Negro girl Named Hanna her life time, also two beds and furniture one Mare Cilby and colt and one horse called Barb and two cows for ever, The Negro girl Hanna after Polly's Death to be equally divided amongst My other Children, Item I give and bequeath to my loving Daughter Rachel two hundred Dollers in Cash and one young Mare Named Trim for ever.- Item I give to my loving Daughter Nancy one Negroe girl named Jenny two beds and furniture two cows and a bay mare named Bets and Cott, for ever except as to the Negroe girl Jenny, that it my Daughter Nancy should die with= =out issue, then the sd. Negro girl Jenny to be equally divided amongst my other children, Item I give and bequeath to my loving son William a Negroe boy Sam[Lam?] called his fore ever, Item I give to my loving son Edward one hundred Dollars in Money and after the Death of My Wife and my two Daughters Polly and Nancy all my land south of that part that will be Mentioned to my son Hugh hereafter Item I give and bequeath to my loving son Hugh part of the land I now live on, bounded as follows Beginning at a pile of Rock on James Tates line, thence to another pile of Rocks, thence to the Mill seat, thence to the Mouth of a small spring branch, thence to the Mouth of the spring branch in the field, thence south eighty Degrees West to Strudwicks line, also one Stud horse two cows and one bed and furniture, and it is also my will and Desire that my son Hugh should take the charge of the whole of my plantation and all the Negroes, to tend it and that he shall receive the (turn over) [page 3] the[sic] two fifths of all the grain, and also the two fifths of all the profits arising from the plantation for his trouble, But if my son Hugh and my Wife and my two Daughters (Viz) Polly and Nancy should Disagree about tinding of the land, then and in that case Hugh must tend his own part only. ~~ Item I give and bequeath to my son Edward's son William the sorrel mare colt.~ Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Nancy all the money that I have after paying the above Mentioned legacies. Item I give to [my] loving wife Rachel and My two loving Daughters Polly and Nancy all my flock of sheep, Item I give and bequeath to My son Hugh and my Daughter Polly all My farming utensels, one Waggon and geir and one Still and the Vessels belonging to it and all My stock of hoggs equally between them The Remainder of my stock of Horse and cows after all the legatees receive their part to be equally Divided among my three sons (Viz) William Edward and Hugh, in such Manner as they May think proper. All and singular my Goods and Chattles now being in my dwelling house in the County of and State aforesaid, of which before the Signing of these presents I have delivered her the said Mary Wilson and Inventory signed with my own hand and bearing Even date[?] to have and to hold all the said Goods and Chattles in the said Premises or Dwelling House to her the said Mary Wilson her heirs Executors or Administrators from hence forth as her and their proper Goods an[d] Chattles Absolutely without any manner of Condition in Witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal this twenty third Day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand seven Hundred and Nin[e]ty three and in the seventeenth year of the American Independence.
