All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Loose Will, NC Archives CR 073.801, Will Book Volume E, pages 81-82 Written: July 12, 1812 Recorded: May 1825 Testator: James Wilson State of North Carolina Orange County In the Name of God Amen; I James Wilson of Said County & State being in Good health and of Sound and Disposing minde and memory & Calling to minde the uncertainty of this Life; and the Certainty of Death Do make & publish this my Last Will & Testament in Manner Following Viz first I Will my Soul to God who gave it and my body to the Dust that I may have a Decent Buryell without pomp or Splendor at the Descreation of my Executors hereafter named Not Doubting but that my Soul and body Shall be Reunited at the General Resur[r]ection ~~ Secondly I will that all my Just Debts be paid thirdly my will is that my son William have my Sorrel Colt to him and his heirs fourthly my Will is that my Son Samuel have my Bay Colt him and his heirs fifthly my Will is that my Dear and Loveing wife Heneritta Wilson have all the Residue of my Estate both Real and per= =sonel for her own use and for the purpose of Raising my younger Childrain and giveing them Common Education for and Dureing her Naturel Life and the she out of Such Estate so left to her give at the Entermar[r]iage of Each of my Daughters Dicey Salley Henneritta & Jeane Wilsons and also my grand Daughter Meriah Daughter of my Diceased Daughter Dradeyann Each of them one good Bed and furniture or when they ar[r]ive at Lawful age and further my will is that my wife Henneritta Wilson out of Such Estate give to Each of my Sons John D Wilson George Wilson at the time of their Intermar[r]iage or becomeing of Lawful age one Horse or mare Such as is Common to them and their heirs Item I also give at the Death of my beloved Wife aforesaid my plantation Whereon I now live to my Son Hiram Wilson with all the appurtinances thereunto belong= =ing it is also my Will the my son James Wilson have leave to live on Said plantation where he now lives for three years from the Date hereof and no longer [page 2] Item I give to my soninlaw James Turrentine one Dollar and my Will further is that all my personal property which my beloved Wife Dies Seased and possessed of be at her Death Sold at Public Vendue to the highest bidder on a short Credit and the money So Raised from Such Sale to be Equally Divided among all my Childrain[sic] male and female to Share and share alike Namely James Archelous William Samuel John D. & George Wilsons as also Nancey Polley Dicey Salley Henneritta & Jeane and as I Leave my Land to my Son Hiram he is not to have a Distributive Share with the Rest of my Childrain in the personal Estate it is also my Will and Request that after the Legicies aforesaid that Each of my Childrain male and female before the Distribution aforesaid Takes place that those that are now unmarried, at the Death of my Dear and beloved Wife out of the personal Estate left by her and to be Sold as aforesaid Shall have Each of them in addition to the Legicies aforesaid as much as will be Equel to What Each of them that are married have got at or Since their Inermar[r]iage and the Residue of Such Estate to be sold as aforesaid and Divided as aforesaid and I further Will that my beloved Wife Henneritta Wilson & Samuel Turrentine Carry this my last Will and Testament into affect and I Do hereby Revoke and Disanull all Will or Wills by me heretofore made and Declare this to be my last Will & testament in witness whereof I have this Twelfth Day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred & Twelve Set my hand and Seal in the presence of S Turrentine Alexr. Turrentine Orange County May Term 1825 The Execution of the foregoing last Will & testament of James Wilson was duly proved in open Court by the oaths of Thomas Clancy & William Hall, who swore that they were well acquainted with the Hand writing both of Saml. Turrentine & Alex Turrentine & that they believe their names subscribed as Witnesses to the foregoing will are in the property hand writing of the said Saml. & Alex. Turrentine respectively ~ It was therefore ordered that the same be recorded.
